Big Bang!

So,

It was once said that the clearest way into the universe is through a forest wilderness. You know, there is something that happens when you are in the forest. To me, the best remedy when I am afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where I can be quiet and alone with the heavens and nature. I usually feel my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees and animals. Something everyone understands, well apart from the common ‘wageni’ who have feelings of aversion or unwillingness in regard to forests, animals and anything wild and would prefer walking with 10 rangers, all with AK 47s, 20 Maasai morans and we can throw in dogs too, and I am not talking about the white fluffy crazy for attention dogs, but the ones that chase anything in sight and I mean anything… even an ant that is busy building it’s home, saving it’s family and you know. Ok it’s not only the ‘wageni’ who get this overpowering feeling of fear when in the wild, I was once hiking in the Aberdares with my Maasai friend and she kept panicking, even though we had a ranger with us. Kept wondering why yet she has been raised in the thicket of Laikipia.

So back to nature and the peace that comes with it. I was recently hiking and when I got to the peak, I stood in stunned silence. The view was literally out of this world, made me give whatever was behind all this a standing ovation. Yes I know by saying “whatever was behind this” will send me straight to the clergy. But this is what I want to understand, the beginning.

How did it all start? Here are the theories:

Panspermia

This is the hypothesis that life exists throughout the Universe, distributed by meteoroids, asteroids and planetoids. So what it says in English is that “seeds” of life exist all over the universe and can be distributed through space from one location to another. Now now now, I don’t remember science but that amino acids can form all on their own when I don’t know what happens. This just makes me think there are some aliens some where in space and other planets, weird coz either they are just not as smart as humans or they don’t want to come out in the open. I mean, after all this time they say the world has been in existence; shouldn’t we have already made some contact with those creatures? Maybe interact or engage in informal communication with them for mutual assistance or support? Heck we could be having half green and slimy humans by now. Please let’s not go to Hollywood and their impractical conception and mental creation of this life, seriously pity those who watch these love stories and think that is how romance is.  Anyway, about the theory, I will research more before I reject it on grounds of insufficient evidence. It has been abused by those who do not understand it like me, but let’s just leave it as a possibility for now.

We then have:

 Biopoesis

 Cosmogeny,

 Endosymbiotic theory,

Spontaneous generation of certain forms of life from non-living matter,

Clay theory,

Theory of catastrophism or “consecutive creations”,

Materialistic theory,

Organic Evolution

Theory of Special Creation

Looking at Organic Evolution the conservative Christians, dismiss it yet is a concept accepted by virtually every scientist on earth. Natural selection is Darwin’s most famous theory; it states that evolutionary change comes through the production of variation in each generation and differential survival of individuals with different combinations of these variable characters. Individuals with characteristics which increase their probability of survival will have more opportunities to reproduce and their offspring will also benefit from the heritable, advantageous character. So over time these variants will spread through the population. So really, what is there to dispute about that? Well I once saw this comment “If you were to spend your life picking up bones and finding little fragments of head and little fragments of jaw, there’s a very strong desire to exaggerate the importance of those fragments” True, he could have picked a piece of chicken eaten by someone not related to our Kenyan western friends. I would not dispute that life is all about evolution. What looks like a mistake to others has been a milestone in my life. Each one of us has our own evolution of life. Evolution is like picking if you would rather be a rising ape or fallen angel or as they say a doomed creation coz of tasting an apple. It is indeed far more thrilling than the biblical account. Well maybe believing in evolution requires an act of blind faith. But again, if there is evolution, then why do mothers still have two hands?

Theory of Special Creation

According to this theory, life was created by supernatural power. According to the Bible the world was created within six days. The first man, Adam and the first woman, Eve were created by God. According to Hindu mythology the world was created by God Brahma. He created the whole universe with his desire. The first man was Manu and the first woman was Shradha. The Sikh mythology says that all forms of life including human beings came into being with a single word of God. Special creation theory believes that the things have not undergone any significant change since their creation.

I think God, in creating man, somewhat overestimated his ability, look at how man treats his fellow creation, if animals were able to formulate a religion, they would depict the Devil in human form. Someone once said this “The most preposterous notion that Homo sapiens has ever dreamed up is that the Lord God of Creation, Shaper and Ruler of all the Universes, wants the saccharine adoration of His creatures, can be swayed by their prayers, and becomes petulant if He does not receive this flattery. Yet this absurd fantasy, without a shred of evidence to bolster it, pays all the expenses of the oldest, largest, and least productive industry in all history” One thing for sure is that there is evolution, look at how Christianity has evolved, we all have our way of translating the famous book.

Everyone wants a sense of belonging but amateur sits and waits for inspiration while the rest get up and go make it work.  Does it really matter? The law of evolution is that the strongest survives, very true; we all strive to survive, not die. Look at the things people do to survive? When put in a striking set of circumstances that test your survival skills, would you refer to the theories and all the rules /commandments instilled in your life? By the way any social species are those who are most social, in human terms, most ethical. It is said there is no strength to be gained from hurting one another, but what if that is tested and you have to fight for your life? Sometimes I wish I was able to talk to the dead, please don’t refer me to some practitioners employing techniques used by stage magicians. By talking to them, then I would understand death and what it means. For now let me believe your world ends when you die, that is why people strive to build their names so as to not be consigned to oblivion when they go.

So is this world a survival for the fittest? Or is it lived by doing good and watching out for karma? What about the positive and negative energies? Supernatural, is it just something that cannot be explained?

Anyway let me finish my coffee as I listen to some lolitas talking about radical change in the ideas and beliefs of Kim Kardashian after getting hitched and something about a famous Kenyan socialite being paid a crazy load of money to entertain some people in the Middle East… Mmmmh not my business, sips coffee.

Happy Friday

  1. the idea of big bang is simple from the fusion of single atom hydrogen then helium….then other complex elements like carbon which is the basic organic element. When a star dies it releases such elements to the cosmos… some other theories explain life originated from death of stars, emitting complex elements into the cosmos, which ‘plant’ themselves to habitable planets like earth … where evolution takes over.. But as i christian i believe in Creation by Gods word, where all these happened.

    1. Well the origin of life on earth, it’s an incredible topic. You can argue it in every way possible, but it can’t be contradicted, because nobody knows the answer to this topic.

  2. The whole war between the atheist and the theist comes down to this: the atheist believes a ‘what’ created the universe; the theist believes a ‘who’ created the universe. 😉
